How do you ensure that your people develop to perform at their best?

Training obviously helps. Where people need to learn specific technical skills or acquire knowledge, then a well-designed course or a programme of 'on-the-job' training is the best solution.

But not all skills are acquired that way. Sometimes people benefit from the individual support of a coach.

Coaching is not training on a one-to-one basis. It's not about a transfer of knowledge from a coach to a client. It's a process where an individual examines the way they do what they do and is challenged to see how they could do it better. In a safe, confidential environment, deep-seated beliefs can be examined and re-evaluated. Amongst other things, this can be used to help people:

  • Change their management style
  • Grow in stature to be credible as a senior manager
  • Improve the way they organise their work
  • Develop more confidence
  • Enhance their inter-personal skills
  • Handle conflict more effectively

Caroline is an experienced coach and holds a Diploma in Leadership Mentoring and Executive Coaching from the Institute of Leadership and Management, as well as a Certificate in Counselling Skills. She balances challenge with sensitivity and is skilled at asking the right questions to get to the heart of the matter.
